Clorox Disinfecting Wipes Decor Canisters - Review & Giveaway

My kids have a very active role in the kitchen. They always want to be in there with me and usually one or two of them will be sitting on the counter next to me as I work. This time is a fantastic bonding experience for us. I wouldn't give it up for anything.

Review & Giveaway: Exergen TemporalScanner Thermometer

More times than I care to admit, I've called my sister in a panic and asked her to remind me the fever rules for all the different ways there are to take temperatures. That's because temperature taking is always a pretty traumatic event around our house. I forget everything else except getting that accurate reading.

With the Exergen TemporalScanner thermometer, that is all about to change though. This thermometer is so easy and quick to use. The kids don't mind it all. It's not invasive. And there is nothing traumatic about the experience!

The thermometer works by measuring the temperature of the skin surface over the temporal artery, a major artery of the head. According to the Exergen website, the temporal artery "is the only such artery positioned close enough to the skin surface to provide access needed to take an accurate measurement. It is easy to use because it is ideally located at the front portion of the forehead."

Taking a temperature with the Exergen TemporalScanner is super easy too.

1. Hold the termometer so that thumb or index finger is positioned over the SCAN button and place the probe flat on the center of the forehead.
2. Press and hold the SCAN button. Lightly slide the thermometer to the left or right from the center of the forehead to the hairline, keeping the sensor flat and in contact with the skin for the entire scan, about 2 to 3 seconds.
3. Release the SCAN button, remove the thermometer from the forehead and read the temperature.

That's it! No more trying to convince a baby or child to stay still or to hold their mouth closed.

I know having the Exergen TemporalScanner thermometer will be so nice when my children are sick. There have been so many times I did not want to wake a sleeping child to take their temperature to see if they needed more medicine. Now I won't have to wake them up uneccesarily.

Glade Sense & Spray Review and Giveaway

4 kids + small house + 1 bathroom = a sometimes smelly home. Because of that, I was thrilled with the opportunity presented by Family Review Network to review the new Glade Sense & Spray.

Over the past few days, we've experimented with the best location for our "good smelling thing," as the kids call it. Honestly, it's been great in every spot but now I think our Glade Sense & Spray has taken up permanent residence in the bathroom. It's worked fantastically. We all love the Apple Cinnamon scent that makes our house smell like fall.

However, even better than the great Glade scent we've all come to know and love is the way the Glade Sense & Spray works. I think this qualifies as the smartest air freshener ever! Precious Girls Club Giveaway

When we received this wonderful package in the mail from Precious Girls Club, Isabelle thought it was the neatest thing ever. And that's saying a lot for a girl who is fiercely loyal to webkinz.

Smart Snacking

I am a habitual snacker. Most days I could contentedly snack the day away without ever sitting down for a full meal. This is sometimes an issue considering that I prepare 3 full meals a day for my family and they tend to like it when I sit down and eat with them. So in the interest of eating healthfully without gaining a gajillion pounds, I've found that smart snacking really works for me.

For me, smart snacking is all about portion control. I enjoy healthy snacks and try to eat them as much as possible. But I also have a wicked sweet and salty tooth. When I avoid those foods, or view them as off limits, I tend to overindulge in them when I do eat them. That was a difficult lesson to learn. So now I subscribe to the "everything in moderation" method. I don't feel deprived and I don't overindulge.

Mad About MobiStories And A Giveaway

All of my children, from the oldest to the youngest, love to do things on the computer. For my youngest, that usually means just sitting in my desk chair and pounding on the keyboard, which she will happily sit and do for a decent amount of time. So when I find something online that all 4 children, from 9 to 20 months, can sit and enjoy together, I get pretty excited.

My newest discovery is MobiStories. MobiStories is a website where you can purchase and download virtual books for kids. Many of the narrations include children and music, so all of my kiddos enjoyed listening, even though the story wasn't always at their level. But that's only because MobiStories provides different selections for different age groups, so you're sure to find something your children will enjoy.

Although the selection isn't huge as of yet, and although there is no good replacement for sitting on the couch and reading a good book to your kids, MobiStories is a great alternative for those other times in between.

Let's say, for example, that mom is super-busy cleaning the house and getting Thanksgiving dinner prepared before company comes over. She wants to set the kids up with something, anything, to occupy them for a while so she can get a few things done. That is where MobiStories would be the perfect answer!
