Frugal Fridays: Savings/Coupon Codes
We have recently discovered an awesome resource for finding savings on many things. Whenever you are in the market for bigger ticket items (or even some smaller ones), do a search on "savings codes." There are many websites out there that collect savings/coupon codes from manufacturers. These codes do not come from the third party website, but directly from the manufacturers. The third party websites just collect the advertised, and sometimes unadvertised, savings codes into one spot.
As an example, on the website currentcodes there is an option to browse by merchant. I randomly selected "Hooked on Phonics." (As a homeschooler, I'm always intrigued by savings on anything educational.) This produced four different savings code options. The options included: 10% off, 20% off, and $30 off a purchase of $100 or more. Each option also includes an expiration date. I selected the $30 off option, clicked on it, and was taken directly to the Hooked on Phonics website, where my saivngs code carried over automatically. (In this respect, it appears that these websites work very similarly to affiliate programs.) Even though I didn't purchase anything, it was fun to experiment with this. I definitely see the value of checking these websites often whenever we are going to purchase anything, whether online or in a store. Also, these sites have a plethora of codes for really big ticket items, such as computers. Just one more way the internet can help us be frugal. Happy hunting!
