A Library Card

I don't think this picture needs much explanation.

But allow me to set the scene for you.

A 5 year old boy who loves to read learns how to print his first and last name. Said 5 year old boy knows that is the requirement to get your very own, personal library card. He has a project due for school that requires a trip to the library. He begs, pleads and asks as patiently as a 5 year old boy can, if he can finally get his own library card now.

And so he does.

I don't know which of these things is finer - the sense of accomplishment and pride Alex felt, or the whole big world that was just opened up for him.

LOVE it! My daughter turned 4 in February, and one of the first things she wanted to do was go get her very own library card!

Oh, how exciting! I remember being SO thrilled and SO proud of myself when I got my first library card. Good for him!

This picture and post warmed my heart! I'm a used-to-be teacher and always-will-be mother who thinks that there is little more endearing that a child being excited about books. Precious and powerful.

That is definitely one of the most exciting days ever! I still love getting a new library card when we move to a new city. It's always one of the first things I do. Congratulations, Alex! :)
Blessings,
Michele

A Grammatical Disclaimer

I freely admit to consistently using improper grammar in the following areas:
1. I like run-on sentences.
2. I have a tendency to end sentences with a pronoun. (I really do. I can't help it.)
3. I always seem to use passive voice in my sentences. (See?)

I've been trying to break this habit, unsuccessfully, for years, so now I just accept that as my writing style, and since I'm not writing for grades anymore, I embrace it. (Again, see?)
